RCLaser Northern TT Winter Series Delph Sailing Club Sunday 13th February 2011

Thirteen skippers braved the elements for the event in the RClaser Northern TT Winter Series. Heavy rain at times, and strong gusty winds luckily coming from the embankment end of the reservoir which meant skippers could seek some shelter around the club house. All started on C rigs although for the last three races some changed to B, and for the last race could have really have done with A as the wind dropped away. Fortunes varied for nearly everybody with equipment breakages and electrical problems in the wet conditions. Looking at the full results six skippers got 1sts. Dave Helme started off like a rocket with two bullets and two seconds, but after some bang and crash at a mark ultimately realised he had a broken rudder system. Fourteen races where completed in total, but at half-time skippers retired to the Clubhouse for a welcome hot meat and potato pie lunch. Although it is often difficult to keep track of positions with so many races in a series, things were really fought out between Shaun Holbeck (5 wins) and Adam Kissick (2 wins but consistent). After 12 races. without discards, Adam was on 39 points and Shaun 41 pts, so in the end everything really hung on the last race which Shaun. A great (wet) days racing with so many rueing what had gone wrong.
